Practicality Screams Loudly

Something I would imagine most of us struggle with is the loud voice inside of us, telling us to be practical. Now... don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for practicality. But I have come to realize that practicality is often themask for something much more dangerous.

A good friend of mine constantly reminds me that we eventually become what we are enamored with. Or in other words, if practicality becomes the thing we hold most dear (worship) then often our dreams, our passions, the things that make us come alive are in direct opposition to practicality, and thus we never move forward in them.

So may we be people who understand that although practicality screams loudly... the quiet voice that doesn't demand our attention is often the one that ultimately brings life and allows those dreams to come to fruition.

How Envy Kills our Passions

Just so you know...
Everyone You and I look up to, and think "Wow... they've got it together" or "dang... they have it made" - are no different than you and I.  Each one of us has this amazing privilege of living "Our Lives" and "Our Callings" out during this short thing we call life.

Running LGH over the years my wife Morgan and I have had the amazing gift of meeting some of the people we've looked up to (and I would imagine many of you do as well!) for years (from Musicians, to Artists, Actors, to even Oprah) I've learned that although most of them are amazing individuals, they are no different than you and I - so I battle daily to make sure envy doesn't creep in and steal my passions and callings! May it remind you to do the same!

Let us be people who don't allow envy to creep in and destroy the beautiful, amazing gifts we all have today!

5 Social Entrepreneurs Who Could Change the World

Our team at Light Gives Heat has always envisioned the work we do as much more than simply charity. In fact, the term "Social Entrepreneur" is much more in line with our vision for the work we put out hands to on a daily basis, and the creation of is no exception.  You may or may not know this, but the Founders of LGH, Dave and Morgan Hansow, have also started another company, Chrome Buffalo. Chrome Buffalo is a fundraising platform that was created to help raise money for the worlds most pressing needs. People can use it absolutely free for any cause or need that needs fundraising.

So... the term, Social Entrepreneurs is a perfect fit, and as you can imagine we were thrilled to hear about Light Gives Heat, and Dave & Morgan Hansow being featured in the Huffington Post Article, "5 Social Entrepreneurs Who Could Change the World"
